Scope

ASEC was one of the first consultants to utilize fiberglass poles on the client’s ESH FiRM projects and contributed to much of the formalization process that surrounds the design and use of fiberglass poles for overhead line design. ASEC engaged with the client’s Civil/Structural team to develop a FAD tools design procedure that accounts for pole demand utilizing loading height and tip deflection to the pole capacity, interpolating between various database points to assure proper and reasonable pole demand. Additionally, the Fiberglass designs include the client’s preference parameters such as conservative water table elevation estimations, embedment limits of 15ft for constructability, and 2ft soil discount method traditionally used by the client, all while still meeting higher safety factors required by the ESH.
