Scope
ASEC replaced and reconfigured existing distribution poles and replaced them with steel poles and a platform-mounted voltage regulator configuration. The proposed design involved converting from a 7-wire to a 4-wire configuration in accordance with overhead construction standard 1355.1. At the time, the standards for the platform-mounted voltage regulator poles weren’t up to date, and coordination with EDE and CSE was required to finalize the design. We also had one of our engineers go out and physically inspect the voltage regulator configuration to aid the design.
Due to the project location in an 85mph zone, the structure experienced high transverse loads and required H-class steel poles. Therefore, MFAD analysis was also utilized to design engineered embedments for the 2-pole structure.
