SCOPE

The Strategic Undergrounding (SUG) Project was initiated by the client to convert existing overhead power lines to underground power lines in seven sections that are currently on tribal land. The goal of the project is to improve reliability, wildfire protection, storm hardening, and overall safety in these areas. The project involves conducting a thorough reconnaissance of the existing line and removing the majority of the existing structures to ensure that everything that is underground matches as closely as possible.

OUTCOME

The SUG Project aims to deliver a comprehensive map of the sections, alternative design proposals, permit requirements, resurfacing moratoriums, a list of long lead materials and major equipment for the project, and a complete list of customers for each transformer. In addition, the project aims to ensure that all cultural, biological, and environmental concerns are addressed during the design phase.
