ASEC was required to design 138kV and 345kV drilled pier foundations for Engineered Steel Poles supported with Anchor Bolts for multiple installations for its gulf coast region client. These foundations would have to resist the soft clays and high overturning moment loads resulting from the extreme wind load cases.
ASEC performed drilled pier foundation design (diameter and depth) using MFAD and LPILE software. ASEC input the soil parameters from the soil reconnaissance contractor and performed the design. Longitudinal rebar and shear hoops were designed per ACI 318 using hand calculations in MathCAD software.
