ASEC performed detailed design on a family of six tapered tubular engineered steel poles. The poles were designed for 345kV double circuit configurations with two shied wire positions. ASEC created load tree drawings, electrical clearance diagrams, steel weight estimates, and estimated foundation reactions to give our client an accurate design basis for cost-estimating purposes.


The following six structure types were designed as art of this family – Tangent, Long- span tangent, 15° running angle, and 30°, 60° & 90° deadend structures. The point loads used to generate the load-tree drawings were created using a proprietary ASEC program. The structure heights for this family ranged from 150’ to 200’ and were limited by FAA restrictions.
