SCOPE
ASEC identified visual cracking and damaged rebar at the surface of an existing 230kV tower foundation. The development of a repair methodology for the use of a Fiber Wrap was employed to keep the existing tower and foundation in service.
PrOject description
Crews excavated several feet below grade to determine the extent of the damage on the rebar and cleaned away all areas of degradation. Using spColumn, ASEC analyzed the existing capacity of the pier and then added the SIKAWRAP-103 solution around the shaft according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Giving the foundation renewed strength and reliability for additional years of life to the existing system.
